One of the Haberdashers’ wider aspirations is to empower young people from every background to fulfil their potential.
Habs Aspire
The Haberdashers’ Aspire Mentoring Programme (‘Aspire’) is a ground-breaking initiative that will extend the Haberdashers’ Futures Programme.
Aspire will in time give all sixth form pupils, across the nine Haberdashers’ secondary schools, the opportunity to access a mentor from Year 12 onwards. This will provide pupils with a window onto the wider world, the tailored guidance and support of a dedicated mentor and a fresh perspective on how to navigate their future. Mentors will be Haberdashers’ Company members, professionals from organisations, keen to work with young people, and supporters/former students of Haberdashers’ schools.
Under Aspire, a central database of mentors from across the Haberdashers’ ‘ecosystem’. Each school will have a dedicated Aspire coordinator who will appropriately match a pupil in their school with a mentor on the database. Adams hopes to appoint an Aspire coordinator in January.
Haberdashers’ Futures
Haberdashers’ Futures is a programme of careers and employability focussed activity run by The Haberdashers’ Company for sixth form pupils at the nine Haberdashers’ secondary schools. It is one strand of the wider Haberdashers’ Advantage programme that members of all fifteen Haberdashers’ schools benefit from.
The Futures programme is intended to increase awareness of different career paths, build confidence and enable pupils and alumni to access the broader Haberdashers’ community. Previous events have covered Law & Justice Careers, Marketing & Creative Careers, Banking & Finance Careers and Real Estate Careers.
